Canada implements new travel rules for vaccinated Americans entering the country.
Canada opened its borders to fully vaccinated Canadians and Permanent Residents on July 5th. As of August 9th, Canadian borders are now open for vaccinated Americans too.
Firstly, the changes on July 5th allowed vaccinated Canadians and permanent residents to enter the country without having to quarantine for 14 days. Recently, Canada has been seeing increasing vaccination rates and decreasing cases. As a result, vaccinated Americans can now do enter the country without quarantining as well. This is part of the next phase in easing restrictions and putting new travel rules in place.
The next step of easing border measures begins on August 9. All travellers eligible to enter Canada must enter travel details and proof of vaccination via #ArriveCAN, if they’re fully vaccinated, before entering Canada. https://t.co/nTgbEX6CYD pic.twitter.com/WKCZaVuegO

Travellers who qualify as fully vaccinated have received all doses of an accepted vaccine 14 days before entering the country. The vaccines accepted in Canada are Pfizer, Moderna, Astrazeneca and Johnson&Johnson. Fully vaccinated travellers are exempt from the mandatory 14-day quarantine, the 3-day hotel stop and the day-8 testing requirement.
The government of Canada also set a tentative date on September 7th to open its borders to all fully vaccinated foreign nationals.
